Boston Pride Parade A number of GHO members joined Governor Patrick, Congresswoman Niki Tsongas, and others in the 40th Boston Pride Parade, sponsored and organized by Boston Pride. The Parade honors the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion that began the modern Gay Rights movement and commemorates the progress that has been made since those early days of the battle for equal rights. Over twelve hundred people marched and another eight hundred lined the route of the Parade. Nothing could dampen the spirits of either the marchers or spectators -- not even a major downpour shortly after the march began. For pictures of this historic event, please go to 40th Boston Pride Parade.

Haverhill Goes Green
an Eart Day Fair for the Entire Family!

There were speakers, vendors, demonstrations, music and more at Winnekinni Castle on Route 110 in Haverhill from Noon to 4:00 PM in celebration of Earth Day. This year marked the 40th anniversary of the very first time people got together to raise awareness about our fragile Earth and the need to protect it. The event focused on how we could take advantage of new green technologies to save money and reduce our carbon footprint. At the event, we also learned about local farms and the benefits of buying locally-grown food. The event was sponsored by Haverhill's Brightside and was an outgrowth of last year's GHO sponsored Green Summit. For pictures, please go to Haverhill Goes Green, 2010.

Haverhill City Cleanup Day

Members of GHO joined Mayor Jim Fiorentini and the members of Brightside in the City's yearly Earth Day activity: the all-city cleanup. This year, the Mayor was rather ambitious and asked that we clean up much of the city. We were dispatched in groups around the most needy areas and worked hard to make Haverhill look as good and clean as possible. To see pictures of one group's activity, please go to City Cleanup, 2010.
